As an accountant at Forward CPA, LLC, you'll be the linchpin in our audit process, working closely with our clients to walk alongside them during the audit process. This isn't just about crunching numbers; it's about becoming a trusted advisor to our clients, helping them not just meet an annual requirement, but understand their financial landscape.

This position will be mostly working from home, however in-person collaboration with the audit team is required, therefore, you must be local to Omaha, Nebraska. In addition to in-person work in Omaha, this position will travel onsite to clients during the summer and fall.
​
We're not your average CPA firm - we always make sure our team members have plenty of freedom and flexibility to live their best lives, recharge, and have fun. (Major perks of working as a remote team!) That said, the school audit season has some tight deadlines, and that's why we need our team members to be flexible, too. The tasks required in this role typically fit into a Monday - Friday 9am - 5 pm schedule, but during busy seasons, we tend to tap into hours outside that range.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct audits in accordance with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards for school districts, including planning, execution, and completion of the audits within stipulated timelines.

Prepare and analyze financial statements in the format prescribed by the Nebraska Department of Education.

Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations during the audit process.

Offer constructive feedback and recommendations to clients based on audit findings.

Maintain regular contact with clients to gather information, resolve queries, and provide updates on the audit progress.

Participate in continuous learning activities to stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulations affecting school districts.

Day travel to client sites will be required, ensuring hands-on engagement and an in-depth understanding of their operations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to effectively communicate via chat/messaging systems and email. The employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position and occasionally required to move from one location to another. The employee is required to constantly use computer and office productivity equipment such as desktop computer, laptop, and scanner, as well as computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite. The employee may frequently move up to 10 pounds.
